The Plan-1058 Codarl-i (プラン1058 コダールi) is a third generation Arm Slave operated by Amalgam. It is based on the Plan-1056 Codarl and is equipped with the Lambda Driver.

Development[]

The Codarl-i bears several external differences to the original Codarl, starting with an overall red paint scheme while on the head, the cooling fiber "ponytail" is removed and replaced with a singular antenna. Another major change is the heat sink device, which is now a large fin attached to the back that deploys itself when using the Lambda Driver. This improved cooling partially solved the principal problem of the original Codarl — quick overheating from extended usage of the Lambda Driver.

The Codarl-i, which was arguably a minor upgrade in power and reliability compared to the original Codarl, could be considered a stopgap design made from merging the frame of the original Codarl with available design elements from another Amalgam AS that was still undergoing development, which later became the Codarl's true successor: the Plan-1065 Erigor.

This likely hasty development and deployment was done in order to give Amalgam a better chance at stopping Mithril's superior ARX-7 Arbalest while the Erigor and Plan-1055 Belial were not ready for deployment.

Operational History[]

Amalgam deployed the first Codarl-i with Amalgam agent Gauron as its first pilot, near an island of the Republic of Perio. Along with a squad of Zy-98 Shadow — despite intervention of the United States Army, which sent an AS Special Forces unit equipped with the M6A3 Dark Bushnell — the organization successfully attacked and damaged a chemical plant, threatening the welfare of the island. Amalgam used this to lure Mithril's attention. Acknowledging the Codarl-i's deadly potential, Mithril code-named the arm slave "Venom".

Operatives of the Special Response Team (Sousuke Sagara, Kurz Weber, Melissa Mao,Gail Mcallen,Guen Bien Bo and John Danigan) were sortied, but team members were restricted from engaging the Venom except Sousuke, due to its Lambda Driver. The Codarl-i was equipped with an Ak-87 gatling cannon and a monomolecular cutter which was used to hold them off, until it was struck with the debris of a collapsing building, forcing Gauron to surrender after it allegedly "overheated" in a ploy to infiltrate the Tuatha de Danaan.

This first Codarl-i was destroyed in a self-destruct sequence after being defeated in single combat against the Arbalest piloted by Sousuke, this duel happening after Gauron's plot to take control of the submarine was foiled by the combined efforts of Teletha Testarossa and Kaname Chidori.

A second Plan-1058 Codarl-i appeared in the tunnels of Nanjing, this time being piloted by the Amalgam agent Gates. The Venom was used alongside numerous Rk-92 Savages and a Zy-98 Shadow piloted by Xia Yu Fan, to lure Mithril's SRT into the tunnel and then hunt them down. Gates's Codarl-i clashed against Sousuke with sheer Lambda Driver force; Gates prevailed but was forced to retreat due to his AS overheating.

This Codarl-i was last spotted in Hong Kong, during the Xia twins's rampage. Gates's Codarl-i quickly defeated Yu Fan's Codarl-m, but it was ultimately destroyed by an offensive Lambda Driver attack from the Arbalest not long after.
